Participation in a technological society demands deep and critical understanding of technology and its impact on each individual, the environment and society. Achieving technological literacy has become an imperative of national policies; hence, the role of education and adequate teacher training has become vital. In recent years, research in technology education has begun incorporating studies of pre-schools, but technology education in pre-schools still remains less studied. The research focuses on technological literacy of pre-service pre-school teachers. Most of them think that technology, technology education and knowledge are very important for pre-school teachers even if they consider their aptitudes to be low. Part-time students, in comparison to full-time students, exhibit higher technological literacy and more highly assess the impact of everyday technological environment on the lives of individuals, the need for technological knowledge in the lives of modern people, the importance of technology education in kindergarten, the importance of technological knowledge for quality professional work of pre-school teachers, the importance of technology education during their study at the faculty, and their own competencies in the technological field.Život u društvu u kojemu tehnologija zauzima važno mjesto zahtijeva duboko i kritičko razumijevanje tehnologije i njezina utjecaja na svakog pojedinca, okolinu i društvo.

Postizanje tehnološke pismenosti postaje značajan imperativ nacionalnih politika, a u njegovu postizanju ima važnu ulogu obrazovanje i odgovarajuća osposobljenost učitelja i odgajatelja. Participation in technological society requires a deep and critical understanding of technology and of its impact on each individual, environment and society. Achieving technological literacy has become an important imperative of national policies. Hence, the role of education along with adequate teachers’ training have become vital. Although in recent years research in technology education has begun incorporating studies of preschools, technology education in kindergarten and in preschool teacher education remains less studied. In the present article, we pondered upon which assistive technologies in-service student preschool teachers used in implementation of technological activities with children and in other professional activities. Further, we wanted to find out how often they used a microscope, a magnifier and binoculars in technological activities in kindergarten and how they assessed the impact of various factors on the implementation of technological activities in kindergarten

For pupils to obtain high-quality and permanent knowledge, it is important that the teaching of scientific and technical contents is based on cognitive constructivist approach. We carried out a research, during which we asked three research questions, on a sample of 167 class teachers in the Republic of Slovenia. We wanted to find out: how often class teachers included elements typical of cognitive constructivist approach; was the frequency of using elements of cognitive constructivist teaching model linked to the teacher’s concern for their own professional development, and was the frequency of using elements of cognitive constructivist teaching model linked to the factors, such as the teacher’s estimated importance, difficulty and necessity of Science and Technics, the assessment of their own competence and professional enthusiasm. Data were collected with three scales: ways of teaching scientific and technical contents; attitude to scientific and technical contents and teaching and components of professional development. Data were processed according to descriptive and inferential statistics. The research showed that the formulation and verification of hypotheses, two important elements in view of cognitive constructivist teaching model, were less often represented. With statistically significant higher frequency they were organized by teachers, who rated their competence higher, were more enthusiastic and cared more about their professional development

In this paper, the authors present the results of an empirical study that formed part of the broader research project, "Culture of Educational Institution as a Factor in Co-Construction of Knowledge," at the University of Rijeka. The research was conducted on a sample of 317 elementary class teachers from Croatia and Slovenia. The authors sought to establish how class teachers assess their professionalism in practice; whether they show statistically significant differences in assessing their professionalism and professional development in practice at different stages of their careers
